Course Description

There are literally a million different personal trainers in the United States today. Over 50% of the active trainers in America have some type of personal training or group training certification. While having a personal training certificate is definitely an asset on one’s resume, it provides almost no help in assisting an untrained, deconditioned individual to achieve great health, muscle tone, and improved posture. Over the past 37 years I have interviewed and hired hundreds of certified and non-certified personal trainers. The one common denominator amongst all the new trainers was that they lacked the ability to connect with, and articulate to, the mature adult about the form and function of each exercise prescribed in a training protocol. The Todd Smith Training Method will provide you a differentiated skill set that will allow you to make a profound positive impact upon each training client you work with.

  • Effectively coach individuals to get the maximum benefit from exercise in the least amount of time possible.

  • Assess the risk versus benefit on each exercise for each individual.

  • Understand the behavior patterns of clients and learn to manipulate their behaviors to maximize their results.

  • Identify professional standards and codes of conduct and ethics to maintain long term healthy relationships.

  • Learn concepts of anatomy and physiology, human movement, neurological pathways, and metabolic health.
